Empowered by Christ to reveal His love and reach our communities

Lindsey Burkey

My name is Lindsey Burkey, and I serve as the Director of Worship at Rosewood Church. I graduated in 2015 with my Bachelor of Music in Worship Arts from Grace Christian University in Grand Rapids, and have been a part of the Rosewood family since 2017. My philosophy of worship ministry is founded on Romans 12:1-2. “So then, my friends, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.”

I believe Scripture teaches that worship is the response of the believer’s soul to the grace of God. It is the act of willingly surrendering ourselves to the Lord because He is worthy of all that we have and all that we are. I am passionate about congregational worship because of the way it uniquely unifies believers in this pursuit. In a time when local churches are divided over so many issues, the ability to lift a collective song of praise is even more powerful. Individual preferences for expressions of worship must be secondary to the greater goal of magnifying the Lord’s name together. Worship ministry, then, is about being lead worshippers, as we seek to respond corporately to the gospel of Christ in a manner that is glorifying to Him.

It’s my deepest honor to have the opportunity to serve alongside many gifted volunteers in Rosewood’s Worship Arts ministry each week. When I’m not playing music, my husband Steve and I enjoy cooking, chasing our three kids, Juliette, Lillian, and Quintin, and playing board games.
